Alexia & Sep

Alexia and Sep are a one-of-a-kind duo. Their individual devotion to swing dancing, its culture and its community, makes their pairing so unique. They prioritize an authentic dancing state fueled by the music. Their goal is always an honest and shared dance relationship.
Since 2016 they have worked and traveled around the world together. They have grown as dancers and master educators and have challenged each other from their complementary qualities. They taught at many prestigious events and won competitions, but that’s not what matters anymore to them. During Covid pandemic, they made their separate journey about how the scene was changing, but found themselves even more connected when the scenes ‘reopened’.
Alexia and Sep have different projects running at home. They both aim to shape the swing scene with their own events, where values of appreciating black culture, inclusivity, equality and diverse activism are important. Lindylicious, Upside Down, Big City Blues, Wonderfollow…
They are also part of the international team Mind The Beat, along with 6 other awesome
dancers whom they share a vision of dancing dear to their heart.

Karin & Ben

When Karin took her first Lindy Hop class in 2016, she never imagined how much it would change her life. Instead of becoming an elementary school teacher, she soon dropped out of college and decided to devote as much time as possible to jazz music and swing dancing. Karin loves to bring her enthusiasm for swing music and its original artists to the dance floor and into her classes—not only as a dancer and teacher, but also as a social dance DJ and with her podcast “Bugle Call Radio.” For her, it is essential to know the history of dance and music in order to express herself in this art form. In her classes, Karin tries to focus on the skills that allow you to enjoy social dancing to the fullest. She is a passionate follower (and now also a leader) who is convinced that the connection to your partner, the feeling for the music, the courage to improvise, and your own expression on the dance floor are a thousand times more valuable than practicing impressive, complicated figures. Karin lives in Saarbrücken, Germany, where she is part of the swing community “Lindy Hop Saarbrücken.” She enjoys good food, loves dogs, and cycling (downhill or gravel bike).

Ben:

„When a swing song starts, crazy things happen inside me: my body feels every single beat in the music and wants to move to it. I can express myself completely freely in the music. It’s athletic, energetic, comfortable, exciting… in short: for me, it’s a feeling of absolute joy as soon as I bounce through the intro of a song with a follower! I’ve also met so many different people through dancing and been to beautiful places around the world. It’s an indescribable enrichment to my life! It’s a great honor for me to be able to share my passion for dance in Saarbrücken and all over the world!“

Daniela & JAcky

Jäcky: Ever since I first saw people dancing Lindy Hop to swing music, I knew: this is my dance.
I’ve always loved dancing—ballet, ballroom dancing, modern dance – but none of these dances inspire me like Lindy Hop: it gives me joy, creativity, and personal expression through dance, and I can form very special connections with other people. The different facets, from Blues to Charleston, and the music that always moves and carries me away are unique to me and I can’t imagine my life without them. And I love sharing my enthusiasm with others!
Daniela: Dance plays a very important role in my life. Non-verbal communication is essential for me and, I believe, for many others as well. My personal dance history begins with folk dances, then there is a wild Ska phase, followed by classical ballroom dances (Standard and Latin), then comes my love of Salsa, and since 2017 I have been at home in swing dances. Since 2023, I have been teaching Lindy Hop and Authentic Jazz and spreading the joy. Why did I stick with swing? It’s more than just certain step sequences. It’s a lot of fun, expression, inspiration, and dialogue. Just like real life.

Linda Kyei Swing Combo

Linda Kyei has gathered together a group of top-class musicians from the young swing scene and has been presenting her swing combo since 2016. In various formations, they celebrate the warm, crackling, intense but always light-hearted sound of the good old days. Among other things, the combo performs regularly at the successful concert series “A Sophisticated Evening” concert series at the Bix Jazz Club in Stuttgart. This event features other guests from the worlds of dance and music and is hosted by a presenter who is well suited to the occasion and highly entertaining.

The Linda Kyei Swing Combo stands for enjoyable, elegant evenings – enriched with the charming jazz sound of the early years and, of course, a pinch of nostalgia.

level description

Beginner
Have you never danced Lindy Hop before, or is it been a long time since you last danced, or have you only learned a few steps? Then take advantage of our beginner’s course! We will show you four different aspects of swing dancing that you can use to have fun at parties 😉 Even if you have already attended a beginner’s workshop, you are in good hands here – it will be fun!

Beginner-Intermediate
You dance actively for at least half of a year and have visited a class or workshop already. You go to social dances and/or Lindy Parties regularly and know some moves and tried dancing the Swing-out.

Intermediate
You have at least two years of active Lindy experience, visited multiple classes or workshops and you attend social dances, dance training and/or Lindy parties regularly. You know lots of dance figures and have danced the Swing-out.

Intermediate-Advanced
You have lots of active Lindy experience, attended multiple dance classes or workshops and you have tried out other swing dances as well (Blues, Balboa, Shag,…). You go to social dances, trainings and/or parties at least once a week. Switching between Lindy Hop and Lindy Charleston is easy for you. You enjoy dancing to very fast as well as very slow music, know lots of variations to Lindy Hop dance moves and improvisation is a essential part of your social dancing. Dancing the Swing-out to fast music does not throw you out of balance. You want to dance with your whole body and enjoy working on the basis of your dancing.

Advanced
We also want to give our very advanced dancers a chance of benefiting from our workshops. Please only register for this class if you truly feel safe in your dancing and contribute to the group! In addition to the description from the intermediate-advanced classes you should be able to implement technical concepts like stretch, posture, momentum and musicality on a high level as well as be able to accept and implement feedback. If you are unsure whether you fit in this class or not, please contact us!
