Åsa and Daniel are dancers and teachers who are passionate about making dance both accessible, fun, and truly rewarding. Together they create a supportive, uplifting learning environment where students can build technique, musicality, and confidence—whether you’re stepping onto the dance floor for the first time or looking to level up. With extensive experience teaching classes and workshops, they focus on clear structure, practical tools, and exercises you can apply right away. Their teaching is grounded in curiosity and presence, with an emphasis on connection, feel, and moving naturally with the music. Åsa and Daniel believe the best learning happens when you get to explore, try, make mistakes, and laugh—while still being guided with care and clarity. Their goal is for you to leave class with concrete takeaways, fresh inspiration, and a stronger sense of “I’ve got this.”
A dynamic force in the realm of American vernacular dance, Chester Whitmore built upon a rich foundation, notably his formative work alongside the seminal Leonard Reed (founder of the globally recognized Shim Sham). Chester established himself as a mesmerizing performer, his feet articulating complex rhythms in a dazzling display of tap artistry, while his embodiment of the buoyant energy of Lindy Hop and SoloJazz captivated audiences. Chester’s commitment to historical accuracy, coupled with his dynamic teaching style, positioned him as a pivotal figure in dance preservation. He not only reconstructed steps but also illuminated the cultural narratives embedded within these forms, inspiring dancers to connect with the historical roots of American vernacular dance while encouraging their own creative exploration. His work stands as a testament to the enduring power and cultural significance of these dance traditions, ensuring their vibrancy for generations to come.
Jäcky: Ever since I first saw people dancing Lindy Hop to swing music, I knew: this is my dance.
I’ve always loved dancing—ballet, ballroom dancing, modern dance – but none of these dances inspire me like Lindy Hop: it gives me joy, creativity, and personal expression through dance, and I can form very special connections with other people. The different facets, from Blues to Charleston, and the music that always moves and carries me away are unique to me and I can’t imagine my life without them. And I love sharing my enthusiasm with others!
Daniela: Dance plays a very important role in my life. Non-verbal communication is essential for me and, I believe, for many others as well. My personal dance history begins with folk dances, then there is a wild Ska phase, followed by classical ballroom dances (Standard and Latin), then comes my love of Salsa, and since 2017 I have been at home in swing dances. Since 2023, I have been teaching Lindy Hop and Authentic Jazz and spreading the joy. Why did I stick with swing? It’s more than just certain step sequences. It’s a lot of fun, expression, inspiration, and dialogue. Just like real life.
Feli: I don’t remember existing without dancing. There were decades of formal ballet training, later ballroom dancing, Salsa and Tango Argentino. When I discovered Lindy Hop and Swing dance I fell deeply in love with this Afroamerican artform that treasures community as much as individual self-expression.
I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to bring my two passions of dancing and teaching together in our community since 2017. I love to bring lots of energy to class, to connect with the group and the individual, and to share the joy of feeling, dancing and being present.
I firmly believe that everyone can and should dance within their abilities – it makes our lives more meaningful and the world a better place.
Linda Kyei has gathered together a group of top-class musicians from the young swing scene and has been presenting her swing combo since 2016. In various formations, they celebrate the warm, crackling, intense but always light-hearted sound of the good old days. Among other things, the combo performs regularly at the successful concert series “A Sophisticated Evening” concert series at the Bix Jazz Club in Stuttgart. This event features other guests from the worlds of dance and music and is hosted by a presenter who is well suited to the occasion and highly entertaining.
The Linda Kyei Swing Combo stands for enjoyable, elegant evenings – enriched with the charming jazz sound of the early years and, of course, a pinch of nostalgia.
It is important to us that everyone can participate in our events, regardless of their financial situation. That is why we would like to expressly encourage people on low incomes (such as students, trainees, the unemployed, pensioners, or people in other challenging life situations) to join us.
If the regular participation fee is a hurdle for you, please leave a message in the comment field, send us an email at workshop@swinginkonstanz.de, or talk to us. We offer reduced prices. No explanation is necessary.
Please note: our level descriptions refer to Lindy Hop skills. Since Solo Jazz is less common in our scene, Solo Jazz classes are set at a lower level or are more open in terms of theme, despite the corresponding level designation. However, please attend the Solo Jazz class that corresponds to your registration.
Beginner
You have never danced Lindy Hop before, or it’s been a long time? Then this class is for you! We show you necessary steps that enable you to have fun at our Parties. Also if you know a few steps or visited a Beginner-Workshop already you are at the right spot!
Beginner-Intermediate
You dance actively for at least half of a year and have visited a class or workshop already. You go to social dances and/or Lindy Parties regularly and know some moves and tried dancing the Swing-out.
Intermediate
You have at least two years of active Lindy experience, visited multiple classes or workshops and you attend social dances, dance training and/or Lindy parties regularly. You know lots of dance figures and have danced the Swing-out.
Intermediate-Advanced
You have lots of active Lindy experience, attended multiple dance classes or workshops and you have tried out other swing dances as well (Blues, Balboa, Shag,…). You go to social dances, trainings and/or parties at least once a week. Switching between Lindy Hop and Lindy Charleston is easy for you. You enjoy dancing to very fast as well as very slow music, know lots of variations to Lindy Hop dance moves and improvisation is a essential part of your social dancing. Dancing the Swing-out to fast music does not throw you out of balance. You want to dance with your whole body and enjoy working on the basis of your dancing.
Advanced
We also want to give our very advanced dancers a chance of benefiting from our workshops. Please only register for this class if you truly feel safe in your dancing and contribute to the group! In addition to the description from the intermediate-advanced classes you should be able to implement technical concepts like stretch, posture, momentum and musicality on a high level as well as be able to accept and implement feedback. If you are unsure whether you fit in this class or not, please contact us!
We are currently establishing a hosting program.
