Flora & Thorbjorn

Thorbjørn and Flora are international swing dance teachers, performers, and choreographers with backgrounds rooted in competitive Boogie Woogie and years of experience in social dancing. Known for their musicality, harmony, and technical precision, they bring an energetic yet playful approach to their teaching. After many years competing internationally in Boogie Woogie, Lindy Hop became a natural continuation of their journey — a way to dive deeper into improvisation, groove, connection, and the social aspect of swing dancing that has always inspired their dance style. Strong believers in the importance of fundamentals, they focus on rhythm, connection, timing, and body awareness to help dancers build confidence, creativity, and comfort on the social floor. Their goal is to create classes that are both challenging and enjoyable, in a welcoming and fun atmosphere.

Karin & Ben

When Karin took her first Lindy Hop class in 2016, she never imagined how much it would change her life. Instead of becoming an elementary school teacher, she soon dropped out of college and decided to devote as much time as possible to jazz music and swing dancing. Karin loves to bring her enthusiasm for swing music and its original artists to the dance floor and into her classes—not only as a dancer and teacher, but also as a social dance DJ and with her podcast “Bugle Call Radio.” For her, it is essential to know the history of dance and music in order to express herself in this art form. In her classes, Karin tries to focus on the skills that allow you to enjoy social dancing to the fullest. She is a passionate follower (and now also a leader) who is convinced that the connection to your partner, the feeling for the music, the courage to improvise, and your own expression on the dance floor are a thousand times more valuable than practicing impressive, complicated figures. Karin lives in Saarbrücken, Germany, where she is part of the swing community “Lindy Hop Saarbrücken.” She enjoys good food, loves dogs, and cycling (downhill or gravel bike).

Ben: „When a swing song starts, crazy things happen inside me: my body feels every single beat in the music and wants to move to it. I can express myself completely freely in the music. It’s athletic, energetic, comfortable, exciting… in short: for me, it’s a feeling of absolute joy as soon as I bounce through the intro of a song with a follower! I’ve also met so many different people through dancing and been to beautiful places around the world. It’s an indescribable enrichment to my life! It’s a great honor for me to be able to share my passion for dance in Saarbrücken and all over the world!“

JAcky & Daniela & Feli

Jäcky: Ever since I first saw people dancing Lindy Hop to swing music, I knew: this is my dance.
I’ve always loved dancing—ballet, ballroom dancing, modern dance – but none of these dances inspire me like Lindy Hop: it gives me joy, creativity, and personal expression through dance, and I can form very special connections with other people. The different facets, from Blues to Charleston, and the music that always moves and carries me away are unique to me and I can’t imagine my life without them. And I love sharing my enthusiasm with others!
Daniela: Dance plays a very important role in my life. Non-verbal communication is essential for me and, I believe, for many others as well. My personal dance history begins with folk dances, then there is a wild Ska phase, followed by classical ballroom dances (Standard and Latin), then comes my love of Salsa, and since 2017 I have been at home in swing dances. Since 2023, I have been teaching Lindy Hop and Authentic Jazz and spreading the joy. Why did I stick with swing? It’s more than just certain step sequences. It’s a lot of fun, expression, inspiration, and dialogue. Just like real life.
Feli: I don’t remember existing without dancing. There were decades of formal ballet training, later ballroom dancing, Salsa and Tango Argentino. When I discovered Lindy Hop and Swing dance I fell deeply in love with this Afroamerican artform that treasures community as much as individual self-expression.
I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to bring my two passions of dancing and teaching together in our community since 2017. I love to bring lots of energy to class, to connect with the group and the individual, and to share the joy of feeling, dancing and being present.
I firmly believe that everyone can and should dance within their abilities – it makes our lives more meaningful and the world a better place.

Intermediate-Advanced
You have lots of active Lindy experience, attended multiple dance classes or workshops and you have tried out other swing dances as well (Blues, Balboa, Shag,…). In addition to the description from the intermediate-advanced classes you should be able to implement technical concepts like stretch, posture, momentum and musicality on a high level as well as be able to accept and implement feedback.
